Cyclos, 5C and non 5C

Hi guys, can anyone tell me whats the difference between the 5C and non 5C cyclos avail on autogeek? Apart from being made for countries using 230v power, is there any other significant difference in terms of performance?

Also, i am wondering if the Yellow Scrubbing Foam Pad is suitable for paint defect removal (like a lambswool pad??) when the yellow cutting pad can't do the job?

Would appreciate any advise and help. Thanks!!

I would assume that's the difference. I would imagine they perform the same. I seem to remember when I was researching buying one that I read a "spec sheet" for them, but I can't seem to remember where I saw that at.

If the Cyclo and the yellow cutting pad isn't doing the job, then I would probably guess that the job is a little too much for the Cyclo (which would be a pretty bad finish). That's a pretty aggressive combo, depending on the polish used.

Hello JaredPointer,

Thanks for your valuable input.

How would you compare a cyclo with yellow cutting pad vs PC and yellow cutting pad? Do the two combos provide similar cutting ability or either one does a better job?

There's no comparison in my opinion. The Cyclo outperforms the PC in defect removal as far as it's ability to remove "worse" defects. Some stuff that a PC won't ged rid of, a Cyclo will. I feel that both are good tools, but if I am going to do some heavy polishing (which from the sounds of it, you are going to be doing) I would reach for my Cyclo 100% of the time. I still use the PC, but it has more of a use to me now as a "spot" polishing tool. With the exception of allowing a friend to use the PC a couple of weekends ago, I haven't used a 6" pad on it in quite a while.

I agree with JaredPointers comments.

I don't use anything more aggressive than an orange pad on my cyclo. I do most of my polishing with the white polishing pads. I will bump up to a more aggressive chemical if I need more cutting power. I get a 'cleaner' looking finish this way, which will saves a step a lot of times (polish & finish pad vs. cut, polish, finish pad).

I hope this helps.

Thanks a million!! Those comments given were really helpful to tilt me towards getting the cyclo, not that i needed any shove though

The cyclo seems like the kind of buffer that I am looking for....safe to use like the PC, yet carries more ammo than the PC....

I think you wouldn't have made a bad choice either way. The Cyclo is a very noce tool, and I love it, but I can see where it is cost prohibitive to some folks.

Oh yeah, the cost, its gonna burn a big hole, but hopefully the results will make it worthwhile.

You wont be dissapointed with the results from the Cyclo. That polisher not only does a great job but we hear all the time people that have had the same polisher for over 10 years. Seems to be the work horse.
