If that was the case, he should check with a Canadian distributor about getting the bag ... a distributor like Eshine would just piggyback it onto a normal order and the shipping would be minimized

Beemer, I think that Steve was only trying to give another businessman's perspective. I'm sure he sees similar comments made on his products when shipped at today's prices. The only thing that gives any justification to me, or at least in my mind is the fact that I can't go anywhere in my truck to chase a product without it costing me at least $10-$15. When I look at this reality it makes it easier (if only somewhat) to swallow.

I have a 17 year old son. We (he and to a larger degree me) recently purchased a little pick up truck for him. He has a small lawn cutting business that he's been nurturing for the past 5 years. He cuts about 20 lawns. This gives him a chance to make reasonably good money for a kid still in high school. He sees a few dollars passing through his hands on the way to his savings account and usually sees them to be worth more than todays economy allows.

He has been putting a nice stereo in the truck piece by piece as he can afford each component. Much of what we have picked up has been over the Internet. We study, search and ultimately make a decision as to which component fits his needs and budget. Unfortunately, all to often, he only sees the advertised price even though he's been through the process several times now.

He doesn't have a credit card and relies on me to place his order. He's good to give me the money for the product but always shows up with the price he sees on the web page. Time and again I've had to stop him and tell him he'd have to wait a week until he has enough to cover tax and shipping costs. I tell this story only because I think at one time or another this happens to all of us. Once we add up the landed costs, the what was a "great deal" seems pretty ordinary. Now if you stop and think about driving 20 miles or so each way to pick up the same product and pay state sales tax and fuel costs it appears to be much more reasonable.

My experience with AutoGeek and their shipping prices is that they are pretty much right in line with others in the same community. Add their excellent customer service and it usually turns out to be a very good value.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

how do I use the Paintwork Clay Pad Applicator properly. I used it on 1,4, and 6 with light and modrate pressure and it really didnt seem to remove much. It was easier to remove tar, sap etc by hand than to use this thing. starting to think it was a waste of money. So any help or suggestions welcome

Use plenty of clay lubricant. Set the polisher on a speed setting of 3. Move your pad up and down and back and forth over a 2 square foot area, applying enough pressure to flatten the foam so the clay is in contact with your paint. When the clay moves freely, lighten up on the pad so that just the foam is touching your paint. Polish the area lightly and then wipe off any clay residue.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Yes, 8oz is recommended. However, you don't have to use the full 8oz - this is just to fill the entire area. You can use less clay and fill a smaller area, but it won't work as fast or efficient.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

I see there are many waterless and rinseless washes on your site. Do you find that some work better than others for specific tasks? If so, which products/tasks would you recommend?

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

If you're referring to Optimum No-Rinse and DP Four-In-One, they will both get the same job done. DP is a little easier to work with (slightly more lubricative, dries a little easier) and smells nicer, but in the long run they will accomplish the same thing. They come in handy for you guys in the winter when it's too cold out to wash the car. It's also nice when you live in FL and can wash the car in the garage with the fan on in the summertime! :

How about the waterless ones? S+W, DP, Eco Touch?

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

I've never heard anything bad about any of the three mentioned; it boils down to value and personal preference. My experiences with Eco Touch were brief but positive, and the DP and Poorboy's waterless washes are staples on my personal detailing shelves.
