Re: How often does a customer find something you missed?
Every now and again I'll get one where I'll miss something blatantly obvious. Most of the time though, people are so blown away by the transformation they either don't see the spots or choose not to say anything. I've never been called back on anything, though.
Re: How often does a customer find something you missed?
That's usually my experience also. They're blown away at how good it looks they don't really inspect it very closely. That's why I insist that if they find anything they don't like to get in touch with me.

Windows was my biggest problem but recently we have remedied that with switching glass cleaners. I'm waiting to see how it performs in summer.
As Dwayne likes to point out I have a tendency to forget the vanity mirrors. I know I know. I need to be using a checklist.
Thats so funny you mentioned vanity mirrors, I just recently started paying attention to what they look like. Its just so darned easy to over look them especially if they are behind a sliding door.

@ Troy............ if you have a ZEP chemical rep in your area, try ZEP 40 Glass Cleaner, I have used it for years.I have found it to be the only glass cleaner that does not streak. use micro fiber towels and the glass will always be perfect.

also it is good to make you a check list and have it printed up, 2 copies. check off the items as you go down, after 21 vehicles you should have it memorized. The problem most detailer's have is that they do not do each car the same way every time. you should have a starting point and a ending point that's the same place on each vehicle.
It's all about a process, different steps etc. and then check , double check and check it a third time , before your customer comes to pick it up

Claying does not mean "High end". It means quality/caring. So would actually learning a trade instead of "Hey I can wash and wax a car, so I'ma gonna be a detailer."

It's a constant battle with this guy.
Out of all my customers, he is the only one that I can't please.
Like someone else said... most of my customers are blown away!
I think I'll just dump this guy.
Like a hot potato I would drop this guy, its not about your detailing. No one is going to satisfy him, he's probably gone threw a few detailers already. Put your price up 3X and then tell him for the level of work that you have to do in order to satisfy him that's the cost

My wife is quality control on the finial walk around. That said there are times that I might miss something, and I just correct it and move on. For me I'm not perfect in this, but heads above the other detail shops in the area. I've seen there work and in some cases been asked to correct it.

as I mentioned earlier . make a list of every item ,part, etc that is connected with the vehicle, clean it ,check it and re check it again. when you detail each vehicle the same way start to finish everyday.you will miss less and less .until it's flawless. That is what keeps your customer's coming back and your detailin prices going up !

So is mine... nothing better than having Mrs. T-Mac do final of the vehicle.

None of us are perfect Beemer... even though we like to think we are. However, I agree with you on finding something that was missed. Just correct it and log it in the back of your mind for the next detail so that it doesn't happen again.
