Okay, here is a big poll on what everyone thinks is the best winter sealant, based on PROTECTION ONLY. Basically, what product will minimize the damage to the paint from snow, ice, salt and all the other winter contaminents? I figure with the cold weather on its way (for most of us), we could all use a little help choosing a winter sealant. This way, when the spring rolls around, our paint need as little restoration as possible. So, what does everyone like to use?

I've found 3 layers of Klasse SG to be exceptionally durable for winter months. When I had to park a car outside 24x7 in New England, SG held up for 6 months with only an occasional hand wash for maintenance.
I had extremely good results (approx 5 months) with 3 coats of UPP on a daily driver. Kept in garage when not in use. Washed with 4* Ultimate car wash. Not bad for Northwest PA with lots of lake effect snow ... It was a long winter last year too.
Did I mention? .... ..... .... Winter Sucks!
I have had tremendous success with Four Star UPP as well during the NASTY Salt Lake City, Utah winters. One thing that I have learned about UPP is that it is loaded with amino-functional polymers. Dwayne has told me that salt is very corrosive and is a sealants (and paints) worst enemy during the winter months.
Keep in mind that a sealant alone is not enough when it comes to winter protection, PREPERATION is vital to ensure that your sealant adequately bonds to the paint.
No matter what sealant you use, you need to get the salt off ASAP and use a QD to help bring back shine and slickness.
I plan to start off my winter routine with a thorough deep cleaning and swirl removal that includes claying, PC and 3M, Meguiars, Poorboys or Menzerna for removing swirls. Klasse All In One by hand for deep down cleaning of any oils left behind by the swirl remover. Klasse Sealant Glaze 2-3 layers by hand 12-24 hours apart and finall Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection 2-3 layers by hand 12-24 hours apart.
It may sound intensive but I don't just want to really on one product to last 6 months of nastiness. I like to go on the offensive to make sure that my car is ready for a long winter. If I catch a few breaks in the weather I will add a few layers of UPP throughout the winter as well.

wow what a bummer Anthony..here it's in the mid 70's shorts and t-shirts came back out for trick or treating
OH..the thread..I prefer to use PwC alone for the winter..went through a few blizzards and lot's of salt and sand last couple years and the truck was still beading in the spring and it sits out 24/7 too!!
Listen up!!!!! I'm a profesional detailer and I don't know why all of you never talk about GLARE. I spend 10% of my profits in research and development and I have tried just about everything. I've been using the Zaino line and coating it with S100 (P21S) for YEARS. With their new instant cure that lets you put mutliple coats I thought I would never find anything better. I was wrong. For protection GLARE is ridiculous. It lasts for a year if you cut it in with a foam pad and then apply a second coat by hand. The amount of protection is SICK. It's like the thickest carnuba that outlasts any polymer. The one thing that might be a negative is that with red and black paint it doesn't shine like a carnuba, It's glossy but not shiney. But for protection it is the start and end of any question! It does leave a powder residue but it's cleaner than most carnubas out there. Easy on Easy off. The only other negative is the price, but when charging 200 for a detail you'll get 4 details out of a 29 dollar bottle. Garuantee the job for a year, I do, never had a car come back. I always keep an open mind but for now I say this Glare stuff is the best product for regular use cars. Show Cars should use strickly a carnuba type product in my opinion. S100 and Collinite are my personal favorites. Buy S100 at any harley dealer, its the same thing as P21S with a different name and is only 15 bucks. Let me know if you try this GLARE stuff and how much you like it, you can buy it at detailking. Don't waste your money on the Glare detail spray its messy and takes the same amount of time to take off as the polish. If you buy two its a great deal. Email if you buy it and then let me know how it works for you. scrubhunter@aol.com. Let me know what other things work well for you too please. I'm always searching for good products. peace Q :hah
