Looks like clay bars are going to become obsolete.

I think I'm ordering one of these.

Well it looks promising, the nice thing is being able to just rinse it off...I wonder how much use you could get out of one before it stops working...even still at $12 can't hurt to try.

This is a product I used for close to 6 months while it was in developmental stages. I will not name the company. Proceed with caution. This is not the same as clay. Personally I dont like them. I am a friend of Dennis Dehn inventor of the Tornador and who brought clay to the U.S. Try it and see for yourself. Clay behaves very differently. The rubber magnet,,,,What I like to call it can scratch vehicles very easily. Everyone if the car is over 150K dont use it for the first time. Like I did. Thanks everyone.

I just ordered one along with a gallon of the new M135 same thing as UQD
1 Gal--#40 & 1 Gal. #39
1 bottle of NXT 2.0
6-32oz bottles with sprayer
Tire dressing
Water Magnet Towels and some other small bottle items.
Order was big enough that they threw in a nice detailing bag.

I'm glad that someone posted this link...I got one of these about 6 months ago from local supplier....I have used it off and on during that time....they are OK IMO not a replacement for clay.....I really didn't get the feeling like it was doing the same job as clay..meaning lifting what clay dose....I use it now and then but I guess I'm ole school about clay

How soft is it? Is it spongey? I picture it being similar to the magic eraser.

It is basically a layer of clay like substance adhered to a foam sponge. The size of the sponge I would guess is about 4 inches by 2 1/2 inches. Size wise, think of an old grade school chaulk board eraser. About the same with but an inch or two shorter.

I bought one about a month ago. I am going to give it a try in March when I do a full detail on my car. By then, five months will have gone by since the last time I clayed my car. That should be enough time for stuff to adhere to the paint to really test how well my sponge works. After I finish with the sponge, I am going to follow up with fine clay and see what the sponge missed, if any. If the sponge passes that test, I will follow up with medium clay to see how it compares there.

I have heard mixed reviews as far as paint marring. One person told me using the sponge will require some finish polish to clean up light marring left over. A detailer in my home town (Louisville, KY) says now that he has the process down, he no longer gets any marring at all. I have read on forums where other detailers share this view. I guess I will find out in March.

Its like a very dense sponge....the other side is kind of rubbery if you will...here are a couple of pics I just took...I don't really use it much unless I am working on something that I don't want to use my good clay on

My concern would be that any contaminant would be left on the surface of the "sponge" and be dragged across the paint. With the clay you can fold them "safely" into the center of the clay and away from the paint.

Its not the sponge that comes in contact with the paint its the rubbery side...the sponge is so that it can absorb lube / soapy water to make the surface slick as you glide the rubbery side over the paint

even if it was porous, it would be to let in the spray, but I would think surface contaminents would just sit on it not getting absorbed and marr the paint.

That one thought that I had about this and the reason that I stopped using it on anything that counts...Since this is a reusable clay if you will...I would have to guess that something is sitting on the rubbery surface, how that gets off or embeds in the rubber I have no idea...maybe what I will do this weekend is try it on a section of the car and see if it marrs the area
