    My detailing kit

Especially since I live in an area with water restrictions, I now carry a detailing kit so I can detail vehicles in another area where water is unrestricted. I usually do not take my UDM with me but if I did it would be in its on duffel style bag.

I ended up purchasing an Igloo cooler (soft shell with hard plastic removable liner). I think the advertised capacity is like 48 cans. I keep the larger towels in the exterior pockets and smaller ones on the inside. I carry zip lock style plastic bags to put my damp wash mitt in and dirty applicators (despite what the image shows below) plus I always keep the tire dressing applicator in a separate bag to keep it from getting on everything else. I want to store the towels in something else (a larger ziplock) soon just to keep them away from the brushes, etc.

This cost less than $20 -- no fancy detailing brand names, etc. but it works and I like the plastic shell since something is going to spill out some day.

I just keep it stocked in the garage and ready to go so no last minute forgetfulness on not bring something. I may end up transferring some stuff to smaller bottles if I get pressed for space but so far ok. I got some 4 oz. samples of Mothers Protectant so these come in handy (or use the 303 trial size).

BTW, DC has generous attachment size allowances compared to some sites.

    Two different approaches.
One is twice as much money, but does it have twice as many features?
    Might be worth the difference.

    I don`t need either one.

    Re: My detailing kit

In my case, I already had something for my UDM.

    My criteria was:
    1. use original bottles (not spend even more money for custom bottles) so it had to be tall
    2. not mess up the bag if there was a spill
    3. Not too specialized ...I can always use it for a cooler if I find something better
    4. Did not have to mail order, use special codes, etc.

My primary reason for posting was to show what you can do with product not intended for detailers that you can get locally. Everyone has different needs but just do not think it has to come from a auto detailing place.

Personally, I think it was a great idea and a good choice for just the reasons you listed above.

I don`t have any need or even any interest in either since I only do my vehicle cleanup at my house.

I do use some Steri-Lite caddies that work really good for me to get products from the house to where I plan to use them.

I have several. One for use when doing a general wash, one for use during a full detail, one for use with the pontoon boat, one for use with the Chris Craft.
I have some overlap of products, but each caddy pretty much has what I need for each project.

Excellent ideas. Different strokes for different folkes. The point is to have something that works for the individual.

    Re: My detailing kit

In the past few years I have used a couple cardboard boxes a large plastic clothes hamper it worked well but was really heavy to lift out of the back of the car when full.
I have several soft side bags that I was not happy with.

So after spending several times more on different items I bought the detailing bag and I like it much better than anything before.

Yes I had to type a code because it was on sale at15% off and then they sent me a E-mail with a code for another 15% off so it wound up costing me less than what a large soft bag would cost.
What don`t show well in the photo is that it has an aluminum frame so it don`t collapse when you lift it.

The pockets will stretch so you can put in the rectangular bottles like most QD`s come in or round bottles.

Unless you have actually seen how well one of these are made you are assuming it is like those cheap soft bags and that is not the way this is made.

I think it is a good buy at the regular price and since I got mine for half that it was steal.
