Exclamation JUST got back from the bodyshop!! Need advice...

After a week of being without my car (for a repair that was quoted to take 1-2 days) I am finally reunited with my car... in a very anticlimatic way unfortunately...

Week long story short: The workmanship on my car wasn`t finalized (I have to take pictures to submit here for the forum, and also worse case scenario to the dealership owner or small claims court)

    - Upon pickup, the rear quarter which was re-painted and repaired to take out rust and damage sustained on an Arizona highway at 70mph a few months ago; the entire panel was hazed, which I know is normal after paint work, but the owner expected me to `wax and revive it after letting it cure for 24 hours.`

    * How/What can I do/product(s) can I use to set this brand new paint and bring the gloss back out and cure the haze from the wet-sanding!?

    * How long should I wait before doing the above process, and is there a certain order or time I should follow to let each step set? (Are all sealants supposed to sit on the car for 24 hours to activate?)

THANKS SO MUCH GUYS, this one is a personal thing and since my car is one of very few things I own I`m proud of; I would really love some of the pro help you have to offer

    Big time thanks!

Not if they are doing it for me.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you may have been taken advantage of. Including what sounds like less than a good job, weak excuses, and DIY final finishing work.
A repaint that is done right should be difficult to tell the difference between the repaired area and the original.

I have pictures... you guys won`t believe this. Upon pickup, BUBBLING ALREADY is occuring where the rust was `fixed`!

I am refusing to pay for service, and the pictures to follow will explain - some areas do have clearcoat - but they are orange peeled (I never knew what this term meant until today)

Usually, I am cool about everything - that`s how people know me, but this entire ordeal has got me beaten down and angry. As you`ll see in the pictures, my car isn`t a Ferarri, but it`s gorgeous and USED to have a flawless deep red depth...

THIS is how my car looked when I PICKED it up!!! The owner didn`t even show any shame!!!!!

** My camera isn`t the best and the sun was going down - so imagine how bad the effects are true-to-life in full light!

Oh my! Sure hope you haven`t paid for the work.Based on your pictures, all the bad areas (if not your whole car) are going to have to be taken down to bare metal, primed and repainted. This is all going to be a major hassle for you. Sorry.

Oh my god I have never seen such a mess.
That is the worst paint job I have ever seen.

I can do way better than that with a rattle can

Hope you know a good lawyer because I think you are going to need one

Unbelievable, I can`t imagine that any respectable business owner would let that leave his shop. Man, if a picture isn`t worth a thousand words. I`ve seen Maaco jobs that would put that one to shame and that is saying something. With Maaco you don`t pay a ton so you`re nuts to expect it but a dealer doing that? Wow. Short of being a body man this isn`t something you can or should be expected to make look good.

That is some extremely poor bodywork. If it was an insurance job, I would contact your insurance and provide those pics top them. I would first go back to the bodyshop and express your complete dissatifaction with this botch job!!! See if they`ll make good.

Without seeing the befores, it is a little difficult to tell the whole story. As it looks to me it`s a $500 or less scuff and spray job (pretty @#$% cheap). Truth is though when it comes to paint and body work, flat out, you get what you pay for.... so, how much did you pay??

Sorry to hear whats happened but I have to agree with every one else that this needs to ge fixed by them, or have them give you your money back so you can get a better paint job.

Re: JUST got back from the bodyshop!! Need advice...

The question that comes to my mind is if they turned out shoddy workmanship the first time, they will probably turn out shoddy workmanship if they do it over.

Personally, I wouldn`t let them touch the car again.
I have no idea what recourse you may have financially, but it is likely that you will end up paying to have it done right by another body shop.
If your insurance company referred/recommended the shop that did the work, I would probably be taking a look at different insurance company options as well.
You might get some help from your agent if he sees the car and finds out that he may lose a customer.

I would be really mad if that was my car. Take it back if there is little cooperation I`d say call the BBB or talk to a lawyer it depends on how far you want to go.
