I'm considering dying my F250 King Ranch seats, uncoated saddle leather, with Leatherique Dye. Does anyone have experience with this product? I intend to dye the tan leather with a dark brown color.

This trim was not a good choice for me, but I'm married to it now. I use the truck hard... construction (concrete) projects, hunting, fishing, dogs, dirt roads, off-road, brutal FL sun... you get the idea.

Ford has improved the KR leather significantly, using a football type texture and color now... good move. Unfortunately, mine is a smooth tan leather. I've babied the leather with all the big-name products, but it's gotten pretty ratty looking. I'm thinking that dark brown will cover a multitude of sins.

Any advice?

I had a electric karcher pressure washer but i needed something a bit stronger, i know these troybuilt washers are not the best because of there pumps but hopefully it will last me for awhile.

Guys,

By Tuesday of next week I sould be able to drive on the new drive way. What a mess! I had Cambridge Brand Pavers installed. Is there anyone out there that has these? I was told that I cannot seal the pavers for 7-9 months until they "evervess" the white stuff out. (lime I thnk)

I do not plan on applying a surface sealer, I plan on using a penetrating sealer like Miracle Sealants brand Porus Plus.

So now a few questions:

1. Anyone have these? If yes, will the run off from my wheels stain (before I seal it).

2. I see alot of guys doing fancy details on some fancy driveways, any issues ever?

3. Anyone ever have experience with the sealer I mentioned? Its expensive but supose to last 2 years in a residential setting and 1 year commercially.

4. Will a pressure washer pull out a stain from someones car leaking motor oil or anti freeze on it?

5. Does the water from a A/C unit on a car condensing leave a mark?

Thanks, for you responses.

Just wanted to get a sense of the strength of some of the PB polishes and pad combinations (especially since I ran out of SSR1...) since I wanted to try and polish the car this weekend:pray:

I have LC white and yellow pads and some SSR2 (a little bit, I don't think enough to do the whole car), a little Pro Polish (definitely not enough to do the whole car), SSR2.5, and PwS. The car isn't in terrible shape, but does have some swirls and water etching (the yellow pad and PwS did not remove the water etching the other weekend...).

I don't want to be too aggressive, but most of what I have left is fairly aggressive stuff or too light. Just curious how some product/pad combos relate, like is SSR2.5/white pad more aggressive than SSR1/yellow pad? I was on vacation so I wasn't able to order anything in time for the weekend.

TIA,

Hi all,
I am not completely new to detailing but still learning and enjoying. And as long as it’s still enjoyable I guess it’s a hobby. I have a Torch red 1993 Corvette, Black 1997 Grand Cherokee Limited and a 1999 Pewter S10 -4X4.
Anyway I’ve graduated from Advance Auto/ Wal-mart products and am seeking some advice. I got some Adams products in a silent Auction last December and like the products but the prices seem a bit high. So now I’m looking into Chemical Guys and Poorboys.
I haven’t pulled the trigger on a PC yet but hope to in the near future.
I get a good bit of compliments on the shine of my Vette when we do shows and events.
I used an older Craftsman Orbital and used Swirl and Haze remover then Fine machine polish and topped with Buttery wax. I know I can’t get the same results using this machine but it’s all I have for now. The night before an event ,I put a coat of Brilliant Spray Glaze on and Buff it off the next morning.
The Vette is garaged and it’s our weekend thing.
I am out of APC and Simple green which I’ve been using as GP cleaners on tires, wheel wells ,under the hood and anyplace I need something stronger than car soap. Should I continue to use Simple green type product or is there better cheaper products?
I have been using Tough Stuff on the carpets and looking for better more economical cleaner there as well.
On the tires and under the hood I’ve been using VRT and VRT 50/50. I like the look of the flatter clean rubber rather than the super glossy sling it everywhere look of some dressings.
On the paint I’d like to make it shinier and deeper if possible. It seems that the Buttery Wax doesn’t last very long on the Jeep and the Truck which are daily drivers. NXT 2.0 doesn’t last either.
So anyway I guess I’d like some recommendations on several products. Maybe to many for one post.
APC
Tire dressing
Carpet cleaner
Sealer, glaze &wax - especially for red

Thanks
Crooz1n out!!

Today was the first time since i own my car that it was so filthy dirty when I washed it. I have not washed the car in 4 weeks! last time was 3rd week in July. I am having some work done on the front of my house and it has prevented me from using the hose. I had contemplated using the self serve a few towns away but I never made it. Got out of work yesterday to find someone had written "clean me" on my window thankfully! It it was the paint I would be polishing and doing my best CSI impression to catch the person and cut that finger off!

I did discover a few things:
1. My wheels don't throw off too much brake dust. they were dirty but not black
2. Ultima UPGP did a better than good job sealing the wheels. First time I tried it on wheels. No P21S needed, just soap and sponges/brushes.
3. My car was never dirty B4. Dusty maybe, but not dirty. I had to change the rinse water several times as it was black. Never had that experience.
4. I got home late from work, and did the wheels and paintwork. I need to go back and detail it. I had diner plans so i did not hit the wheel wells and exhaust tips or the interior at all.
5.I had my 12 yr old help. He was rinsing each panel as I was washing. No fear of wash induced swirls there. I did get soaked and he loves to help and soak me. It actually worked out because he got so see the process and ask questions and the finish was safe. Plus he loved soaking me

Have a nice weekend all!

I finally broke down and purchased some of this stuff. I've had my eye on it for a little while, and decided it was time. I'm not sure where I was when this stuff first "hit the boards," but apparently I missed it and there's generally not a whole lot of talk about it. I figured I'd share my thoughts - it doesn't cost anything (usually).

Product: Prima Banana Gloss & Prima Amigo

Price: It depends on the vendor you get it from. It's not readily available from the normal channels I am familiar with, but I purchased it via Amazon direct from the seller - at least I think that's what happened. Amigo ran me $17.95 USD for 16 ounces and Banana Gloss was $18.95 for the same amount.

Availability: See above. I won't spam the forum with non-advertiser links, as that's frowned upon. It's not as easy to come across as a lot of the other things talked about on this forum.

Packaging: It appears that the entire Prima line is standardized with a dark blue bottle with large oval-esque labels. I honestly think the packaging is very classy looking and the bottles are heavy duty. I dropped one from about four feet and it didn't even dent the bottle. :bigups

Appearance/Product: Amigo is a purple and somewhat thick glaze. From the Amazon description: Prima Amigo is amazingly unique. It is a paintwork cleanser...It is a polymer-based glaze... It is even a super-fine polish which levels up to 3000 grit imperfections- when used with a Porter Cable (or similar) polisher. Combine all three properties and you can see why we think it doesnt fall into any currently defined categories of car care products. Mild cleaners in Amigo break up oxidation and remove "dead" paint. Embedded grime is gently lifted from the surface. Mineral deposits from water spots disappear. It is the perfect prep-step for well-cared-for paint that needs a cleansing before wax application. As a polymer-based glaze, it fills slight imperfections, adds stunning gloss while leaving the finish slick to the touch. What's unique about Amigo as a glaze is that it is polymer-based. Although it doesnt provide protection the way Prima Epic will, it does allow you to go directly to your wax step without any bonding or durability issues. Try that with a normal glaze and your protection will simply rinse off. Prima Amigo allows you to fill imperfections, add gloss then seal it in with your wax. No other product on the market gives you what Prima Amigo gives you. If you have ever fought with black paint as you tried to remove the very last bit of hazing left by your polish steps, you will truly appreciate Prima Amigo. Used with your PC polisher, it will remove the lightest of surface imperfections. Black becomes a crystal lagoon of depth and clarity. Red becomes a bright liquidy glow of its former self. Light colors pop with brilliance. Prima Amigo is your last step to perfection. Whether you are cleaning, glazing or polishing, spend some time with Amigo and you will see why we think it will be your new best friend.

Banana Gloss is cream colored and very thin. It is almost the consistency of a spray wax, and I'm not real sure why it doesn't come in a spray bottle. It's that thin. I have some small spray bottles I think I am going to test this out in later. From the Amazon site: Banana Gloss is a premium liquid wax with a deep glossy shine. If you want easy, waxing with Banana Gloss couldn't be any easier. It works on hot paint, cold paint, in the sun or in the shade. It will NOT stain trim or leave white residue. It dries almost instantly, so waxing becomes a quick and easy project. If that wasn't enough, Banana Gloss will actually fill and conceal some of your paint swirls. Do you see "spider webs" when you look at your car in the sun? Try some BG. The improvement will be significant. Banana Gas contains a complex resin that levels the paint while providing protection and durability. There is also a touch of carnauba for added depth. Black paint and other dark colors look like a deep pool of oil and paint with metal flake looks "bass boat thick." There is quite a bit going on here... You get easy application, paint cleaners, no white residue, trim safe, concealing and of course, protection. All that is left is durability. You should see a good 45-60 days on a daily driver, but with a wax this easy, you may not find out. Prima Banana Gloss: Amazingly easy, simply stunning.

Test Vehicle: My evil, unpatriotic 2008 Tundra. It wasn't prepped other than cleaning the wheels/tires/wells traditionally and a Spray & Wipe cleaning of all other surfaces. I'm not sure what I even had on it prior to today - whatever it was felt pretty dead, as the paint was pretty grabby and has felt that way the past few washes.

Usage: I started out with the Amigo. I felt like it would give a pretty decent base, cover some of my marring (spiderwebs, and some pinstriping where I've been "off road going to fish a couple of private ponds). My goal was two applications of Amigo followed by a final application of Banana Gloss. First application of Amigo was with the PC on speed 1 and a black CSS pad. It spread it on pretty thin. I applied to an entire side of the truck, and then went back and removed the residue. Second application was by hand with a microfiber applicator. I applied it a bit thicker then the PC, but applied it the same way - entire side, remove residue. Banana Gloss was applied with the PC on 1 using a blue CCS pad in the same manner as Amigo.

Thoughts: I had pretty high expectations for Amigo based on the reviews and photos I had previously seen. Lemme tell ya - it did not disappoint. It is extremely easy to apply and remove and it covers defects like you would not believe. I applied it via the PC and removed it over the entire paint on my Tundra in less than 30 minutes. By hand, it was a little longer, but it was still just as easy to remove, even where I had "gunked it on" and it dried thick. It looked good enough to me in the garage that I contemplated not even applying the Banana Gloss after the second Amigo application. Amigo does state to keep it off trim and rubber.

Regarding the Banana Gloss, I am still not 100% sure I am able to decide whether or not I like it a whole bunch yet. I can't tell that it added a whole lot to the look over the Amigo. However it was easy to apply and remove, and a little goes a loooooooong way. As I mentioned earlier, I think I might try and use it like a spray wax because it is just that thin. I don't expect it to last too long, as the directions on the back state to expect re-application every 45-60 days. It's definitely more of a beauty wax than it would be one to put on in the winter.

I didn't stop to take time and make before or during photos. I seem to always be in a rush these days when it comes to keeping my vehicles clean - my son isn't really old enough to help or to be trusted to sit and watch Thomas the Train long enough for me to really get down into things like I used to. :) So it is really nice to have an alternative like this that makes it look like I spent all day polishing. I'll attach a couple of photos so you can see what I mean. I'm not sure my truck has been this deep and reflective since I've had it.

As always, I'll try and answer any questions that I can and comments are welcomed!

I was at this place that sells close outs and I bought 3 gallons of Turtle Wax Platinum Wash Soap for 50 cents per gallon.
Hope it is worth the money.

I thought that this winter when I get snow\salt\mud and crude on my SUV I would use this stuff.

I drove the new car today and when I got home the garage where I do my detailing was parked full of vehicles.

I have been storing this car in the garage that I use for cars that I don't plan on driving often and while it has pretty good lighting it is not near what I have in the other garage.

I decided to not move all those vehicles I would just clean it in the driveway.

It was not so hot but the sun was and when I sprayed the Black paint with the S&W this big cloud of steam would come up off the surface.

I cleaned the car anyway and it worked pretty good but I had to hurry to remove it before it totally dried.

Since I have such a bad back this stuff really is great it saves me a lot of time and work.

Hello everyone, I am new to the site. Have gotten some new toys in the last year. Black BMW 540i and Black Harley Davidson and neither have been waxed, just washed. Been researching the site and feel that the Souveran Wax and Natty's Blue seem to be popular for black cars. Big price difference. Do they sell the Souveran ($95) without the microfiber and other items, just the wax? Leaning towards Souveran if I can get a better price. Any advise. New guy to waxing/detailing car. Any good direction to a thread which is considered excellent and has all the steps would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I think I know what the problem is, but just curious on others thoughts. I washed the car on Sunday and noticed some etching on the hood. Since I was out of SSR1 (I really need to do a full polish one day, it has been over a year ), I pulled out my bottle of PwS since it looked minor. Hit the hood with a LC white polishing pad and the PwS. Helped some, but not enough, so I pulled out the yellow pad to be a little more aggressive. I was looking for a one-step at the time since it was getting late and just before dinner. Polished the whole hood with the yellow pad and PwS (stills needs work though, might have to get the SSR2 out) and called it a night.

So it rained hard this morning while I was getting ready for work. Went out to the car (stopped raining by then), and the hood had absolutely no beading. The rest of the car (which had not been polished) was beading nicely.

I think the problem is with the pad and that I was doing more polishing and not really laying down any sealant. Does that sound right? Is PwS pad dependent, and if so, how just the "polish" compare to the SSR's? Less or more aggressive than SSR1?

I was going to go home after work today and spray some Aquawax on the hood, but it has alrady started to rain again

Thanks,
Neil

I bought this sealant back in December on recommendation from several other detailers who had nothing but great things to say about it. I had already used 4 Star UPP and was hooked on sealants instead of wax, mainly because of the awesome beading properties and I'm a sucker for slickness. :D Also, it smells like blueberries...

We had one of the wettest years on record so the Wet Diamond never got more than 24 hours to bond to the paint before being attacked by rain. I found the beading properties to be good but not great. That was until I threw a coat on with the advent of better weather. Two weeks went by before I washed the car and since the sealant had time to really bond, the water practically jumped off the paint.

Here is a video of the beading properties, featuring my Santa Fe and my vocal talent. :notme: For those looking for a stellar sealant, your search has stopped right here!
