I did this Pontiac over the last 2 days. This was initially to be an interior only detail but the customer later asked me to spruce up the exterior a little.

The guy who thought up the design of these seats should have his head examined. These seats were a nightmare from the beginning and I was only able to get them just OK by first extracting with a citrus cleaner mixed 20 to 1 but as they dried some staining occurred around the seams as the foam behind the mesh fabric is full of dirt that I could not get out by extraction.

I dry cleaned the seats on the second day with better results by using Blue Coral Dri-Clean Plus Upholstery cleaner and then applied Scotch Guard Auto (2 cans) in hopes that the outer part of the seats will not stain back up in the event that they should get wet.

The rest of the interior was cleaned with the same citrus cleaner, same dilution and topped with Poorboy's Natural look Dressing.

Exterior got Meg's Hyper washed and clayed with PB yellow clay using a local suppliers QD as lube then polished with Meg's UC using an orange PB VC pad on the Flex and topped with some Bathtub Wax. (Hand Made Carnauba with no name)

Wheels and wells with straight Citrus cleaner and E-Z Detail brush then topped with PB Bold and Bright Liquid version.

I gave my all to those seats and was not completely satisfied but the customer was very happy with the improvement and the rest of the car so I guess that is what really matters. Pics are limited but here they are.

Thanks for looking

This car belongs to one of my newest clients. It is a 95 Mustang with a 331 cid. stroker supercharged engine with just shy of 600 horse power (sorry no engine pics) The car had a total repaint some years ago. Besides a real deep wet sanding tracer and one spot where the clear was wet sanded through (I avoided that area with the compound/polish steps) and one small sag in the paint, the paint was pretty nice except it was as hard as diamonds. The paint was moderately marred from poor washing technique. I tried to capture the paint defects but the white paint blinded my camera so I am just showing the gloss in the after pics. I was able to achieve about 95% correction.

After wash and clay, 1 pass with:

rotary- PFW pad and a heavy compound (local supplier) 1500 RPM

It took 2 passes each with:

rotary white PB VC pad and Optimum Compound 2 1500 RPM
rotary white PB VC pad and Optimum finish polish 2000 RPM - 1500 RPM

1 rotary pass with red PB VC pad and PB PWS 900 RPM

After cure time for the PWS I applied a coat of a generic carnauba paste wax.

Glass got a DA pass with orange CCS pad and PWS

Trim got a coating of PB Trim Restorer

Wheels, tires and wells were cleaned with a citrus cleaner and EZ-Detail brush. Topped with a coating of PB EX-P.

Tires got a coating of a generic silicone dressing. We are going to pull the wheels and recon the barrels at a later date.

I did this detail for a friend of mine a few weeks ago to experiment with M105. My car is in almost perfect shape so using 105 on my car is worthless. I asked him if I could do an exterior detail on his car at a discounted price since it was in need of a detail and the car is BLACK. I haven't detailed a black car in years so it was fun to get my hands on this one. The paint is in BAD shape except for a few areas that were repainted on the rear quarter panel. The roof is moments from forming rust because the paint is so thin and the clear coat is just about gone.

Process:

Wash and all that jazz
M105 with Orange cutting pad/PC
*tried M205 but wasn't needed
PB Black Hole with Red finishing pad/PC
Nattys Red by hand
PB Black Hole on rims with Powercone
PB Trim Restorer on plastics

Rear After:

Self-Reflection:

The car came out great. The M105 was very easy to work with and did wonders for this car. My before/afters are not that great because I couldn't duplicate the lighting conditions. Not to mention, a wife who doesn't understand what my purpose was. I spent at least 10 hours(with breaks and such) on this car and only charged him $80. I told him it was a $150+ exterior detail but I didn't want to charge him that because I was experimenting with a new product and he's a friend of mine. Doing his car got me 3 potential customers that are interested in the next couple of weeks after it quits raining every other day and I get back from my honeymoon.

Any suggestions for me on my process or pad choice?

I'm a weekend warrior, and decided to really test all these top-line chemicals that I've been reading about here on DC on the neighbors '96 Subaru. This car shows every one of it's 122,000 miles hauling dogs and mail in Alaska, plus several trips up/down the Alcan highway.

Without a DA (yet), this was going to be mostly an interior detail.

The hand sanitizer found in the crusty console was good for a laugh.

Interior:

vinyl was cleaned with SG 4:1, x2 in many places,

then dressed with PB NL

Lots and lots of Q-tips and a couple toothbrushes died for the cause:

And yes, I agree with an earlier thread...details like cracks and crevices count

Upholstery was a big challenge:

Seats were spotted and vacuumed. Carpets got the Full Monty:

Brush and vacuum multiple times.

Stains were attacked with carpet foam,

then laundry spotter as desperation set in

then SG straight from the bottle, scrubbed with a brush and 'extracted' with my wet vac.

Several floorboard stains refused to budge but the mats illustrate the general improvement

The outside also told the story of a hard working car

Without a buffer this was going to be a test of my elbows and PB's Black Hole. Anything approaching full correction wasn't in the picture. With dozens of chips and dog-scratches all the way through the color coat it's a 10-foot car on it's best day. Process was

Dawn wash w MF mitt,

Mothers clay bar with leftover Mothers Showtime QD as lube

SSR-1 applied with an orange foam hand-applicator from AG,

leftover Meguiars Paint Polish to catch a few more hairline scratches,

then BH topped with EX.

Wheels and wells

3-4 applications of straight Simple Green, scrubbed with a stiff scrub brush .

Brake dust was dug out of alloys with SG and 0000 steel wool gently applied.

Poorboys NL was again sprayed over everything black and dried before I could get back to buff it...maybe why the tire gloss is so high, but it's an improvement.

The results are pretty good for now, and the neighbors are amazed. Wish I'd had more than SSR 1, but hand applied, it probably didn't matter. Black Hole did a great job with the fine scratches. The ones through the color coat will need Maaco. And after about 10 hours in 95 degree temps, I needed a beer. (pro-tip...choose a cloudy day?)

I'm not one for the "look at me and my shiny car!" A.W. posts, but I thought I'd put one up. The insurance company wanted pictures of the wifey's 1970 MGB, so I figured to give it a quick detail. Due to the high heat, large highways and huge pickup trucks, we don't drive it much. I gave it a quick wash to remove the dust and hit it with some Menzerna polish. I did a coat of Black Hole and topped it with the obvious choice, Natty's Red. I figured the original Natty's would turn it pink and Natty's Blue would turn it purple. Red made perfect sense.

I still need to get it inspected and maybe we can take it out for a spin one night. I just wanted to share the pretty little thing you folks.

I was asked to perform a protection detail on a new Ford Focus RS 500, being more into my dubs etc I didnt know much about the RS 500, but learned it consisted of a Matt Black Wrap from 3M and only 500 will be made worldwide and this was one of the first in the country. So ordered all the products sutible for this finish.
So back to the detail.
when I arrived the car was mucky and very dusty, was very surprised to see how the car was transported to the dealer :(

So a quick rinse then washed the alloys and tyres and door checks and engine bay (APC/Bilberry etc) and rinsed.
then snowfoamed the car

rinsed, then washed with a Matt Finish specific Shampoo
Finally rinsed again, at this stage i could view the water behavious on the finish which seemed to soak up the water:

At this stage decided to apply Engine Trim finish to the engine bay as if any over spray would be dealt with at the next stage
the car wash dried with a drying towl
Tyre dressing was applied to the tyres at this stage and a seal feed to ensure the pre wax cleanser would remove any over spray.
Moved the car inside and started with the Matt finish range, went over the vinyl with the Pre wax cleaner which helped to remove any staining, oils mark etc..worked one panel at a time.

Then onto the wax, a wax (Specific to this finish) was applied one panel and buffed at a time.

Then left to "Gas out" for approx 3 hours during this time cleaned the interior with an Interior Quick Finish, the seats treated to a Fabric Guard and hoovered, the piano black exterior trim cleansed with pre wax cleanser, buffed then a wax was applied cured and buffed. Windows treated with a window cleaner(applied to cloth then wiped to ensure no over spray), alloys treated to a sealent then a wax. the car was further rebuffed.
Then end results:
