Who is tuned into the pre-game festivities and who is going to be watching the game? I've been tuned to the pre-game since @ 11am CST and plan on watching with a smallish group of a dozen or so folks over at a friend's house.
I know I might be disappointed in the quality of the game, but I'm excited about the matchup.

What game?????
How could you watch 5 or 6 hours of pre-game commercials?
Turn off the TV and enjoy the company of your friends until the game starts.
I think I am going to watch it just to surprise all of you. It's been a while since I watched a basketball game.

CharlesW, you are correct about the numerous commercials, but also have to remind you that these are usually some of the most anticipated commercials all year long as the companies pull out all of the stops for creating memorable time bites. The Gieco caveman/Phil Simms commercial was pretty funny. The Road to the Superbowl was a little disappointing, but the Iron-Man segment was pretty cool seeing some of the older players and seeing where they are now -- though there were some big exclusions and an interesting inclusion (E. Smith).
And I've got the TV and and still enjoying the company of some of my friends here on DC.

If it were a basketball game then the TV wouldn't be on. The only reason basketball exists is for something to do between football and spring football.

Jared,
Since this is uncharted territory for you, a suggestion.
Don't start watching until the last 3 innings because that's when all the action happens.

Now that there's funny...don't care who you are.
For those not watching, you just missed a great TV moment in the segment with Wynton Marsalis. As JB said...that's genius!

I'm just the opposite, this is the only football game I watch all year. I rarely watch the NBA unless the Jazz are in the middle of something phenomenal (you laugh as you know how rare this can be) but I'll watch most any college basketball game.

You know, I'm probably geographically profiling, but I believe the farther north you go (in the lower 48) the more basketball fans you find. So your preference doesn't surprise me. But what about college football or HS? Here in Texas HS football is a pretty big, and talk about fun you can afford

Absolutely, I do go to HS football games and like to watch college football. I was primarily referring to watching TV.

With the exception of HS football, which we just don't get to as often as we should with two stadiums located with 10-15 minutes, most of my football viewing college and pros comes on TV. And honestly, it is a far better seat, and the food is usually better too.
Today's game, was pretty good. Not the outcome I expected, but it was enjoyable. Good company, lots of football snacking food with chips, dips, bbq ribs, bbq sausage and even cheesecake for those with a sweet tooth. A half-time that didn't disappoint. Didn't win any of the pots even with some really good numbers.
