Question Firearms carry

Just curious as to how many fellow detailers also carry a firearm(s) with them.

It got me wondering the other day - I went into the WM to buy some plinking rounds for several of my guns to shoot at the range over the weekend, and the guy behind the counter said they have not been able to keep some ammo in stock. Then, another guy at the "outdoors store" said they sure have been selling a lot of pistols as of late.

I suppose how you carry is dependent upon your state's laws. For example, Alabama is a concealed carry state, with the license being reciprocal in several other states.

Feel free to discuss, however this is such a hot topic, let's try to keep it on the course of the subject. Let's not turn it into an anti versus gun nut debate.

Autogeek would be a good candidate for mayor of Detail City.
Re: Firearms carry

I'm taking my CWP course Sunday, but am also applying to local PDs / Sheriffs offices. I won't need the CWP once I'm hired, but I figure I should get it while I can.

Re: Firearms carry

Seeing that I would like to become a cop I will eventually be carrying a hand gun. I bought a 12 gauge shotgun not to long ago and love going out shooting with it. So my answer is No - but i do have some sort of firearm in the house

This is the bottom line ...here in NY hand guns are a no no ...we have enough crime and some of the toughest gun laws (hand guns) as the population is way too dense and too many so called accidents happen in Night Clubs (subliminal message... Plaxico Burris, P Diddy ..etc .) where drinking is also a factor ... 3 1/2 years minimum jail time for possession you would think people would think twice, but when they offer amnesty for people to hand in unregistered hand guns for cash $$$ , the amount turned in by the general public is staggering

Re: Firearms carry

I thought Burris was not a CWP holder in the first place, and carrying in a place where (primarily) alcohol is being served is a no-no.

There's nothing wrong with law-abiding citizens carrying firearms for self defense. Restrict law-abiding citizens' rights, and guess what? The idiots and criminals will still break the law regardless, hence what happened with Burris. The only difference then, is that criminals are armed, and law abiding citizens are left vulnerable.

Just my .02.

Re: Firearms carry

For years I had a CWP when I was involved in carrying a lot of cash.

A Policeman friend of a friend mentioned that if you carry, you need to be ready to use it.
He also said it isn't quite as easy as they make it look on TV. Not only the legal ramifications, but the fact that you may be taking another person's life.
He has done just that when he and another person were under attack from a crazy with a knife. Mace didn't slow the guy down, a bullet did. The cop had been on the force for 30+ years and had never had to shoot anyone before that. Tough guy and it bothered him enough that he left the force a year or two later.

To each his own, but I quit carrying after that discussion.

These programs make the liberals feel good and it makes gun shop owners money.

Here a local gun shop buys old broken guns for 20 bucks or less and uses parts from them to repair others but when these buy back programs come along he loads up all of them and gets a couple hundred bucks a piece for them.

Points out how effective these programs are at reducing crime don't it.

Re: Firearms carry

here the guns are processed to see if they were used in any felony crimes and then melted ...

no it probably doesn't reduce current crime much but it does remove guns from households that have children and people who are not trained or licensed to have them

Huge difference in location. I have lived here for 75 years and we have had one person killed by a firearm and that was a suicide about 25 years ago.

Way I look at it if he had not had the gun he would have hung himself or took overdose of drugs the gun was just faster.

Nation wide far more Innocent people killed by drunk drivers. Should we outlaw booze.
