Question Well intended touchup goof on scratches

My well-intended wife took the touchup paint bottle that came with my mother-in-laws 2001 Toyota Avalon and put nice thick long brush strokes over all the various scratches on the exterior of the car. now there are little shiny paint worms instead of light scratches (I don't think any went to the metal). What is the easiest way to take care of this? We don't need perfection, but something better is a must. I'm contemplating going at the "paint worms" with my dremel tool with a polishing attachment in hopes of removing the excess paint down to the scratch.

Any ideas? Thanks for anything.

I'm sure you can just wetsand it down with 2000grit and them follow up with a compound that is designed to take out 2000grit+. After compound finish up with polish, wax.

The answer really lies in how good you want them to look and what tools you have available to you. You can make them look better if you own a rotary. THe PC really can't compete with the rotary when it comes to major defect removal, therefore if you want remedy the defect using a PC you will want to begin by wet sanding:

Rotary process for outstanding results: Wet sand lightly using 2000 grit and then move on to a product with moderate cutting ability. SSR 3 with a light cutting pad at 1250-1500 rpm may do the trick (becareful). Follow this with 2.5 and a polishing pad at 1250 rpm and then SSR 1 at 900 rpm with a finishing pad.

PC Process for great results:: To begin, wet sand with 2000 grit followed by 3000 grit. If you can find some between 2000-3000 use it accordingly. Use a polishing product similar to those mentioned above (SSR 3) and a cutting pad at high speed 5-6. And then, proceed as you would above.

This should make the defects look outstanding to the common eye. I'm not sure what your expectation are or skill level is, but I hope this helps a little.

You can wetsand the marks with 2000 and then maye 5000 if you can find it. Scratch X is supposed to be able to buff out sanding marks by hand.
