Local Swirl Remover

What scratch and swirl removers could be had locally and be used by hand? I wanna do my car, but dont wanna get into getting a PC yet and all, so whats some good local stuff? I know scratchx is good, but would it be to hard to do a whole car with it?

Thanks,
Matt

For years I used Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 by hand.
It was a lot of work for less than great results.
Heck, swirl removal with a PC can be a lot of work.
If you do decide to try it by hand, take it in sections so you don't get too discouraged.
Scratch X is intended for use by hand and I have used it in small areas with pretty good results. Here again, an entire vehicle will be a lot of work, but it can be done.

Many auto parts stores will have the Meg's professional line in the tan bottles. NAPA, O'Reilley's, Car Quest are some in my area that carry it. Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts may have the #9, too.
Most auto body supply stores will have the Meg's stuff.

Re: Local Swirl Remover

Most hardware stores seem to have it too. #9 is the polish I see the most around my area. I have seen it an napa like charles has mention but if you cant find it there or at autozone try a hardware store.

Re: Local Swirl Remover

I've found #9 at my Pepboys and NAPA, you could also try the local Auto body supply house.
But be aware that swirl removal by hand will be a long process, not that it can't be done, but will definately take time.

Good luck

I get very good results using 3M Perfect It III Machine Glaze and Perfect It III Rubbing Compound by hand.

Re: Local Swirl Remover

I've tried useing Scratch-x On some fine scratches using up to 4 coats with no success. WHich sucks because I hear alot of good things about it. My whole car is covered in fine scratches and embedded water spots I can't get off.
