do i claybar & compund if the paint looks alil dough/Oxidation/fadding???

i recently bought a 1991 mr2 n the hood just got no shine on it. i was wondering if i should clay bar it then compound it w/Pc7424??? will that mess up my paint some more???

once i figures out what i want to do. i am going to do these step to the whole car.plannnin to do 1/2 one day n 1/2 the next day.

1.dawn wash /dry
2.clay bar w/QD
3.wash again
4.compound w/3M fine compound.w/pc7424
5.mother's polish w/pc7424 (any other recommentdation for polish from an auto stores???)
6.zainobros z5,z6,z2 <~~~do it bout 3 times.

im goin to buy these pads to support the PC 7424

http://www.premiumautocare.com/hi-gloss-foam-pads.html

6" Hi-Gloss C.P. Yellow Compounding PadYellow Compounding Pad - More aggressive cutting action than the white pad. Use this pad to compound older vehicles with a dull, chalky or neglected finish. Use this pad with caution. Compounding can dull the surface (called compounding haze) which will require additional finish polishing to remove.

6" Hi-Gloss C.P. Black Glazing/Finessing Pad
Black Glazing/Finessing Pad - This pad has no cutting or cleaning action. It should be used to apply a glaze or a finessing polish.

6 " Hi-Gloss C.P. Red Finishing Pad
Red Concours Finishing Pad - This red pad has no cutting or cleaning action. This incredibly fine, European foam was introduced for applying the final liquid wax or paint sealant. This is the pad to use for layering one wax or sealant on top of another

thanx for all the help i can get...

Re: do i claybar & compund if the paint looks alil dough/Oxidation/fadding???

Here is what i woudl reccomend.

-NXT Wash or any dedicated car wash- leave the dawn in the kitchen
-clay bar w/ wash as lube
-Chemical Paint Cleaner - AIO or Poorboys Pro Polish (will get rid of oxidation and fading so you can get a good look at your defects.)
-SSR2.5 via Orange light cut pad... if not enough cut switch to yellow
-SSR1 via WHite polishign pad to clean up any hazing that could occur
-zainobros z5,z6,z2 <~~~do it bout 3 times.

I would suggest adding these items to your order

Yellow cut pad
Orange light cut pad
White polishing pad x 2
Black or red pad
Poorboys Pro Polish or AIO
SSR2.5
SSR1

That is just my approach.

Greg
