Poorboy's Vs. Meguiar's

I've been a long time fan of Meg'es product, but i'm starting to read more and more great things about poorboy's. I'm really liking the fact that poorboy's says its product can be applied in direct sunlightand hot surfaces. anyone here use Poorboy's that used to use meg's? How do you think they compare?

i love poorboys. i think most of there product is great. i dont use everything that they have though. i use both poorboys and meg's stuff. like poorboys polish i love and use it on everything i detail. same with nattys and i use the SSR's. but for most of the trim and interior and everything else i use diffrent brands. and i buy other glazes and stuff but you will find what you like from what companies. you dont have to buy strictly from one company. :mohawk

If you're used to Megs then you shouldn't abandon them completely, you can't get poorboys locally and it's always nice to pay cash. That said, I'd get some poorboys products to see how you like them. As you said Poorboys is sun friendly, although it still prefers shade. If you want a truly sun-friendly polish pick up some Optimum Polish, it doesn't ever dust, it's very versatile, and it's inexpensive ($15 tops for 32 oz).

You should try the PB trim restore using a foam brush to apply it. A few drops will go an extremly long way. For the interior you should try PB Natural look for the plastic, vinyl and rubber. It cleans and gives a great like new look to what it is applied to, not too shiny, slick or sticky, UV protectants and smells great to boot.

I find that the Poorboys lineup to be great easy for a beginer to use and understand what to start with and the order to use in....The Megs line is somewhat confusing to me with all the numbers of each product and what follows what....However I have used both and they have both produced great results.

I use products from both Megs and PBs as well as others. Most of the products I have bought from any vendor work well. Fewer products don't work as well as I had hoped.

If I read your post correctly, you are looking for exterior products. Are you having problems with Megs products or is it the "sun factor"? It's my experience that "Sun friendly" products still are easier to work with with cooler surface temps and not in direct hot sun.

The sun factor is a big part, but when you read really good things about something you wanna try it.

First thing first

any product you chose will have a learning curve to it....yes including Meguiar's. Meguiar's was where I started and there a great product for the beginner and the expert. I have found in a detailing process Meg's had some loop-holes that I was trying to fill and yes Poor-Boy's filled some of the void.

You have to take in to consideration that I'm not much for the Carnauba Waxes. I like my Polymer Sealants. I have tired all of Meg's sealants so if you want a run down on Meg's sealants vs Poor boy's EX-P there's not to much difference, They are both very easy to apply and remove, the longevity for both and about the same and I still have some veh's. out there testing ex-p for me and have not heard a single complaint. each veh is in its own environment, no 2 drivers are alike, and the weather differential are so different the test is not a pure one. so it would come down to what do you want?

Polishes:
ahhh theres another story I have had the chance to work on some real BEATERS ones that we thought the finish would never come back again,
Meg's #85 is in a class of it's own I have not found nor tried anything that comes to the aggressiveness as #85
Meg's #83 I still have not found the learning curve for this product, it's some great stuff but I can not get it to preform as well as others......YET.
Meg's #82 only use this stuff once in a blue moon. no comment.
Meg's #80 Like it easy to work, nice stuff.

Poor Boy's
Pro Polish:
I have worked this polish on a black truck where the paint was so hot that the polish bubbled right there on the surface.....Obvious the veh was TO HOT and needed to cool down some so out came the Quick Shade tent. but yes you can work this product in sun light.....to and extent (read back)...the pro polish fills in where I'm lacking in the #83 department.....IMHO this is some real nice stuff.

so that's it, I'm not trying to sell you anything or my ideas or
asking you to spend your money because Beercan says so
just trying to give you my experience so you can make your own choices.

And that Gentleman are what these forms are all about.
