Removing all product from the surface..

So I am reading all of these threads on what to use to total clean your paint of all old Sealants, wax, glaze and so on. Use or Don't use Dish soap, use or don't use 50/50 alcohol wipe, use a paint cleaner or polish. As for the first two I am not sure I am sold on how the dish soap effects plastic trim and how 50/50 will penetrate and remove everything and leave a clean surface. As for the paint cleaner or polish would it not just clog the pad with product and residue? So I am thinking what about a product like DP Pad Rejuvenator? I use it to clean my pads {dose a great job} I use it to remove old and new wax residue from all trim {does an amazing job} with no damage to the color of the trim, so why could you not mix a bucket up and wash down a car to create a clean slate? Am I missing something?

Joe...where I do believe that the DP will take off the wax on your car, the way that it works is by letting the towels soak in the solution...I guess it would work if you could let it dwell on the car for a bit.

If getting all the car clean of any product and any other decontaminates..is the goal..Dish soap will do this very effectively..but over time it will break down some of the areas on the car...rubbers, trims, etc....its just the wrong product choice for the job..IMO

However clay will take off all the old product, My go to on this subject...A paint cleaner is chemical based and breaks down what is on the surface by chemical...my second choice for this.

Lastly a wash product that I use once in a while that removes everything is FK1 decontamination kit by Finish Kare....its a 3 step process that takes ALL the crud and old product off the car.

I have not used this stuff for the paint but have used their water spot remover for glass and it is an excellent product.

The car wash sounds to me to take off everything including water spots...sounds like it will take off the wax as well IMO

I'm going to go get some of the car wash to try out on a beater

I hear Klean-Strip® works reel good at removing everything from the surface!!

It might not be such a good idea to use it though!!

Thanks for the feedback guy's, I think I am going to go with a good wash and a wipe down of prep all. The car is a 2003 metallic gray Nissan Altima. Has some oxidation on the hood and roof, heavy swirls {spider web like} on the rest of the car. The car is waxed often but gets a bath at the local car wash every week. My plan is to clean it, clay, XMT #3 followed by a fine polish and either go with the Duragloss #601 & #105 or maybe Collinite #845 topped with #915. I am not looking for bling on this but want it to with stand the elements out here. Not my vehicle so I can't over look its care once it leaves my hands. Thans again!

Here you go a car product that will strip off all the old wax. Follow the directions on the product and it will work. I purchased some of this to try and when i read it and discovered it stripped off the wax I decide not to use it as my regular car wash soap and exchanged it for one of their other soaps.

The prep All will work.
Since I do my own painting I have some products that are used by auto paint shops one that works really well is made by Dupont it is call First Kleen part # is 3900S you can pick up a gallon at any auto parts store that sells paint and painting products. Another Dupont product that will do what you want is Quick-Kleen any of these will remove ALL of the wax or sealant on the vehicle.
